By 2025, the market size of container houses in China will exceed 42 billion yuan, and the growth rate of emerging scenarios will be rapid

According to the "2025-2030 China Container House Industry In-depth Research and Investment Prospect Forecast Report" by CRI, the global container house market size will reach 18 billion US dollars in 2024, with China holding the top position globally with a 37% share. ​
The domestic market size exceeded 42 billion yuan in 2024, with a year-on-year growth of 28%. However, the growth rate of demand for traditional construction site dormitories has slowed down to only 9%, while the growth rate of demand in emerging scenarios such as cultural and tourism homestays and emergency medical care has exceeded 60%, becoming the main driving force for market growth. ​
In terms of price, the market shows a distinct stratification. The average price of simple container houses has dropped to 650 yuan per square meter, but smart container houses, with their advanced functions and designs, have surpassed 3,800 yuan per square meter, with a premium rate of 485%. ​
In terms of regional markets, the construction of Xiongan New Area has driven the growth of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei market by 41%, making it one of the fastest-growing regions in the country. The Yangtze River Delta region, with its vigorous development of cultural and tourism projects, accounts for 38% of the national procurement volume and is an important consumption area for container houses. ​
In terms of policy, the national disaster prevention and mitigation plan clearly states that 1 million sets of emergency container houses will be reserved, and 42% of them will be completed by 2024. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has included container homestays in the subsidy list for rural tourism facilities, with a maximum subsidy of 500,000 yuan for a single project, further stimulating market demand. According to a survey by CRI, the penetration rate of smart container houses is expected to reach 34% by 2025, and significant breakthroughs are likely to be achieved in technology application and market expansion.
