After the earthquake occurred in some areas of Xizang, the harsh plateau environment brought great challenges to the rescue work. However, the rapid installation of the waist folding boxes for rescue has brought hope to the affected people. ​
The rescue teams arriving at the earthquake-stricken area disregarded altitude sickness and quickly threw themselves into the installation of folding boxes. Due to the high altitude and low temperature, the installers moved rather slowly. However, with their rich experience and firm belief, they still advanced in an orderly manner. The waist folding box was designed with full consideration of installation convenience in complex environments. Its components have a high degree of standardization and the installation steps are simple. The local people who had received training also actively participated. With the joint efforts of everyone, each group of people could complete the installation of 10 to 15 folding boxes every day. ​
The first batch of 200 folding boxes that were installed quickly formed temporary shelters. Each folding box is equipped with heating facilities inside to withstand the severe cold at night on the plateau. Meanwhile, the channels between the boxes were rationally planned to ensure the smooth evacuation of people and the transportation of materials, providing a safe and warm temporary home for the people in the earthquake-stricken area during difficult times. ​
