After a powerful earthquake hit northern Syria, a large number of buildings collapsed and hundreds of thousands of people were displaced. Temporary resettlement has become an urgent problem to be solved. A batch of rescue waist folding boxes provided by China were urgently transported to the disaster-stricken area, injecting key strength into the local reconstruction work.
This batch of folding boxes adopts an innovative waist-folding design. After folding, their height is only about 45 centimeters. The number of boxes that a single truck can carry is more than five times that of traditional temporary housing, greatly alleviating the tight transportation resources in the disaster-stricken area. The local rescue team completed the assembly of the first batch of 200 folding boxes in just three days, setting up a temporary resettlement site that could accommodate over 800 people.
The box body is framed with high-strength steel and equipped with fireproof and waterproof composite panels. It can not only withstand the impact of aftershocks but also keep the interior dry and warm in the local rainy and snowy climate. Each unfolded box has an area of approximately 15 square meters, which can meet the basic living needs of 4 to 5 people. Moreover, it reserves water and electricity interfaces for easy connection to temporary power and water supply systems. The UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Syria said after an on-site inspection that the rapid deployment capability and durability of this folding box have set a new efficiency standard for post-disaster resettlement.
